Information sur l'exposé

High resolution X-ray tomography is currently evolving from an established qualitative analysis method (e.g. for failure analysis or material research) to become a powerful quantitative tool which can e.g. used for high precision 3D dimensioning. For this application the quality of the measured CT data-set significantly determines the accuracy of all following 3D measurements. To achieve high precision metrology results, the reconstruction algorithm has to take into account and correct inevitable physical effects which occur during CT data acquisition like beam-hardening. The traceability of the CT measurements results which are generated by advanced surface extraction algorithms is ensured by calibrated and certified (DKD certificate according to DIN/ISO) test specimen. 3D Software packages allow the fitting of geometric primitives, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD & T) according to DIN/ISO and also the complete automatic generation of first article inspection reports.

In order to evaluate the accuracy of 3D metrology with CT, a valve block made of high grade aircraft aluminium (Fig. 1) was scanned with a phoenix v|tome|x L CT-system (GE Sensing & Inspection Technologies, Germany). Additionally, the part was analysed by means of a Leitz/Hexagon high precision 3D CMM. The comparison of the results shows an excellent correspondence of the two methods (deviation between 3D CMM and CT ≤ 6 µm for diameters and distances) which lies within the measurement uncertainties of the two systems.
