Present and future of image sensors. (How megapixel sensor technology can help optical metrology)

Martin Wäny
AWAIBA -
Resumen de la ponencia
The presentation will give an over view of silicon based image sensors in CCD and CMOS technology. Main focus will be on present and future technologies for CMOS image sensor technology. After introducing latest trends and resulting consequences in shrinking pixel size, increased pixel number, high dynamic range image sensors and high resolution high frame rate architectures, the presentation will elaborate on possible use cases of this technological advances which were driven by consumer electronics demands for metrology applications.
Información sobre el ponente
Martin Wäny graduated in microelectronics IMT Neuchâtel, in 1997. In 1998 he worked on CMOS image sensor at IMEC. In 1999 he joined the CSEM, as PHD student in the field of digital CMOS image sensors. In 2000 he won the Vision price for the invention of the LINLOG Technology and in 2001 the Photonics circle of excellence award of SPIE . In 2001 he co-founded the Photonfocus AG. In 2004 he founded AWAIBA Lda, (www.awaiba.com) were he is CEO. AWAIBA is a design-haus for image sensors specialized in miniature cameras, high speed and high dynamic range imaging. Martin Wäny was founding member of the European Machine Vision Association EMVA and served till 2008 as member of the board of directors. He initiated the EMVA1288 standardization working group for Image Sensors and Cameras and still actively participates in the Working group. He is member SPIE and IEEE.
