Metrological Software Validation

Maite Tamayo - Michal Janiszek
SQS - Spain

Presentation abstract

To ensure that your metrology equipment gives you the correct result, something more is required than indicators of exactness of the hardware that you use for your measurements. There is something more that also decides about quality of your digital measurement results – software that you use for processing the data.

Current application development standards require continuous adding of new functions, utilities and at the same time making the applications use as transparent for the final user as it is possible. If we add to this high requirements related with precision of results that we want to get and many different software modules that are used to obtain these results we can not forget about assuring that this application does its work correctly.

The tutorial explores the advantages of validating and verifying metrology software. It will analyze the type of errors which could appear through V&V process and suggestions how to prevent them during design requirements and development phases
